Keystone Opening Day Guide

With over 29 inches of snowfall in the last two weeks, we hope that you are all more than ready to get your snow gear out of the closet and head up to Keystone! This year is going to be one of the earliest opening day dates we have had in over 4 years. Start making plans now to celebrate what should be an amazing season! Use this Opening Day Guide to make this year’s festivities a breeze.

SkyRun Keystone is proud to have been celebrating opening day for 15 years. Over the years we have established working relationships with some of the local businesses and are happy to provide exclusive discounts to our guests for these businesses. It can be extremely stressful to try and plan a ski vacation for the whole family and worry about the cost of lodging, ski rentals, food, and more. We hope to alleviate a little bit of that stress with discounts at several restaurants, ski shops, and other local businesses in the Keystone area. When you call a reservation agent at SkyRun, make sure you ask about our special discounts! You can also visit our SkyCard online to find out more about where you can save.

For the most convenient location, look at our ski-in/ski-out properties. While Mountain House is not quite open, there are some wonderful options right in the River Run area to get you onto the gondola quickly and with ease on Opening Day. The Last-Minute Deals page on SkyRun Keystone’s website will show you all the best last-minute lodging deals for your Opening Day weekend adventure. This page features any “gaps” in our properties’ calendars and will allow you to book properties for up to 30% off the normal rack rate. Have you booked with SkyRun before? If you choose to book over the phone, make sure you ask about our return-renter discount!

You’ve booked your property, you’ve set up your ski rentals for the weekend, and you’ve figured out where you will be dining out and finding entertainment off the mountain. Now, what to pack? While Colorado enjoys nearly 300 days of sunshine year-round, the early season temperatures are quite chilly. Make sure that you and the kids have plenty of layers, a warm jacket, face protection, and cozy socks. With the sunshine in mind, double check that there is also a bottle of sunscreen in your suitcase! Once you have checked in to your SkyRun property, you will want to make a trip to the local City Market. Granola bars are essential for long days on the mountain and you may want to have a hearty Crockpot recipe going while you are out skiing! A nice soak after a long day of skiing is highly recommended. If you choose to select a property with a hot tub, don’t forget a bathing suit!

Opening Day weekend is always full of fun activities, great energy, and fun times on the mountain with friends and family. Using this guide, start your season in Keystone with SkyRun! We’ll see you on the mountain!
