Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays from Skyrun!  Celebrate the holidays Vail style, starting with a lantern parade led by Santa himself on December 23rd.  There will also be the Vail Winterfest Ice Theater where you can sit on oversized ice thrones and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas projected onto an ice screen on December 23rd.  Close out the year with a ski down torch light parade and fireworks on December 31st.   It will be hard not to feel the Christmas spirit with the beautiful lights Vail puts up all over town and Christmas music galore.  If you’re not so interested in family-oriented events, there is plenty of night life as well, and events may be viewed at https://vailvalleythisweek.com/nightlife-events.

The lantern parade will begin with a lantern making workshop at the Vail Public Library from 1:00pm-4:00pm, please allow 30 minutes to make your lanterns.  After lantern making there will be live music from 4:30pm-5:30pm in Slifer Square, Vail Village, in anticipation of the arrival of Santa who will lead the parade through Vail Village at 5:30pm.  The lantern parade will end at the Gore Creek Promenade where the Winterfest Ice Theater is taking place.

Grand opening celebration of Vail Winterfest Ice Theater from 5:00pm-10:00pm at the Gore Creek Promenade in the Vail Village.  The lantern parade will end here, and there will be complimentary hot cocoa as you sit on oversized ice thrones while watching the classic cartoon How the Grinch Stole Christmas projected onto an ice screen!  Projection begins daily at dusk until 10:00pm and will be on view until the ice melts.

Finally, to close out the year there will be a ski down torchlight parade and fireworks starting at 6:15pm at Golden Peak.  Watch the glowing train of ski instructors and Vail locals ski down Golden Peak with glow-sticks, followed by a fireworks display!

Also, for New Year’s there are restaurants in the village offering multi-course meals with music and wine pairings.  More information can be found at https://www.vailmag.com/articles/2018/12/4/new-years-eve-guide.
