Since the days it opened as a walk-up burger joint in 1962, Kings Beach’s Char-Pit is just the spot to grub after a day in the big lake. Besides the regular burgers (bacon, cheese, double, avocado, and bacon), there are also especially stacked patties. These include, but are not limited to: the Tiki with teriyaki sauce and pineapple, the French with blue cheese on a French roll with BBQ sauce and the Mexican topped with cheese, green chili, and BBQ sauce. We recommend the California Omelette with the potatoes & the pancakes. Waits for a table get long on summer and winter weekends, so go early.

Manzanita is a celebration Northern California Cuisine focusing on rustic cooking techniques, local produce, and regional farms. Rustic yet elegant mountain eatery in the Ritz-Carlton perched “halfway up the mountain” of the Northstar Ski Resort. The gorgeous views” are the main event.

The Grid Bar and Grill is always your place for entertainment. Since opening in 2010, the local bar continues to host many sports games, live music events, including local bands, open mic nights and karaoke. It’s a great place to watch your favorite sports team with the 14 flat screen TVs inside and outside the restaurant. FiftyFifty is a craft brewery and restaurant located in beautiful Truckee, California. We brew quality craft beers and the award-winning Eclipse™ barrel-aged stout. Totality Imperial Stout is an Imperial stout produced regularly by the company. Yearly, some of this beer is set down in a variety of barrels for six months of aging to make Eclipse Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. TART (Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit)

TART, or Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit, is the public bus service that connects the North Tahoe areas with Truckee. TART has routes connecting the West Shore, Tahoe City, Squaw Valley, Northstar, Incline, Truckee and all of the places in between! During both winter and summer, TART offers free night service along the West Shore between Squaw Valley and Crystal Bay as well as connections to Northstar. During the winter months, free ski shuttle service is also provided connecting guests from anywhere on the North and West Shores to Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Homewood. TART’s Truckee local route offers service in the winter months throughout Truckee with connections to Donner Summit ski resorts daily. The Truckee local route offers service throughout the remainder of the year within the Town of Truckee Monday-Saturday as well as Dial-A-Ride service year round.There is a Tahoe City Transit Center that acts as a transfer station as well as a bus route and times information center, waiting area, bike lockers, bathrooms and automated TART pass vending machines. One-way tickets cost less than $2, making TART a cost-effective way to get around Tahoe.

Town of Truckee Transit Services

Whether you’re on a budget, sick of driving or have had a few too many adult beverages, the Town of Truckee offers public transportation that, depending on the season, can get you close to home, drop you off on the slopes and maybe even keep you out of the drunk tank. Winter time fixed routes generally run mid-December through mid-March from near the new Truckee Community Center with stops downtown, Donner Lake and the Donner Summit ski resorts of Donner Ski Ranch, Sugar Bowl, Soda Springs, and Boreal. Non-winter time fixed routes don’t go up Donner Summit but do include the Truckee-Tahoe Airport, community center, downtown, the Deerfield Drive area, Donner State Park and the west end of Donner Lake. For senior citizens and those with disabilities, the town offers a dial-a-ride service for trips within town limits.

BlueGo

The BluGo public bus service for Tahoe’s South Shore has three lines that provide service on the south end of Lake Tahoe. Route 50 is appropriately named, as it runs almost exclusively on U.S. Highway 50 (which is also Lake Tahoe Boulevard through most of the City of South Lake Tahoe) from the South Y Transit Center through South Lake Tahoe and Stateline to the Kingsbury Transit Center. Route 53 is similar but departs from Lake Tahoe Boulevard at Al Tahoe Boulevard and zigzags its way to Johnson and Glenwood and then along Ski Run to meet up with Pioneer Trail, which it follows back to the junction with Highway 50 and on over to the Kingsbury Transit Center. Route 23 has its base in the Heavenly Village and Stateline Transit Center area and follows Highway 50 through Stateline to Kingsbury Grade where it climbs up the hill to the Heavenly Stagecoach Lodge and the Ridge Resorts at the top of the mountain and then back down again. For bus travel farther into Nevada, the 20x line runs from the Stateline Transit Center up over Kingsbury Grade and into Carson Valley, while the 21x line travels from the Stateline center along U.S. Highway 50 along the East Shore up over Spooner Summit and into Carson City. Travel between Carson City and Minden/Gardnerville in the Carson Valley is available on the 19x.
