Discover the Best Beaches on Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island is known for its sugar sand beaches and crystal clear waters, which means there’s no shortage of places to get your toes in the sand. With seven miles of shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico, the beaches on the island offer something for everyone. As locals of the area who enjoy beach time ourselves, we’re here to help you find the perfect spot to sunbathe, play, fish, or hunt for seashells – and our charming vacation rentals will keep you close to all the action. When you book a stay with us, you’ll be within minutes of the beaches, allowing you to experience their beauty right out your door. Be sure to check out these famous beaches during your stay on Anna Maria Island.

Bean Point

Bean Point is a peaceful and secluded beach located at the island’s northern tip where the Gulf of Mexico meets Tampa Bay. The best way to access this beach is on foot, as there is only street parking nearby. Follow a winding path through the dunes to reach the beach, where you’ll be met with stunning views of the turquoise blue waters. This beach is beautiful at any time of day but is especially magical at sunset, offering unobstructed sights as the sun sinks over the water. Something important to note: due to its more secluded location, this beach does not have public facilities, including bathrooms, lifeguards, or a public parking lot.

Manatee Public Beach

With seven acres of sand and free parking, you can spend all day at Manatee Public Beach with your family. Plus, you’ll have access to the beach’s public amenities, including restrooms, volleyball courts, water fountains, and all the essentials. Pack your beach bag and a cooler of food, snag a spot near the grills, and make lunch for the family so you can spend all day on the sand. There’s also a cafe right on the beach if you prefer to grab a snack there.

Coquina Beach

Head to the southern end of the island to experience Coquina Beach. There’s free parking and 22 acres of beach to explore here, so you don’t have to worry about feeling overly crowded. Enjoy your day on the sand or rent kayaks and paddleboards and head out on the water – you can even choose to do a guided tour. This area also hosts an outdoor market three days a week where you can buy fresh produce, as well as clothes and jewelry sold by local artists.

Cortez Beach

Also on the south end of the island is Cortez Beach, which is a great option if you’re looking for things to do beyond just hanging out on the sand. There are three fishing piers that provide a great place to cast a line and see what you can catch. In addition, both kids and adults can enjoy collecting shells, as this beach is known for having many along its shoreline.

Bayfront Park

Bayfront Park is situated on the bay side of the island, offering you the chance to take in beautiful views of Tampa Bay and the renowned Sunshine Skyway Bridge. This beach is perfect for those with children as the waves are calmer on this side of the island. Plus, there’s a playground for even more fun. There’s free parking, but this is a popular destination, so we suggest arriving early.
