When you enter the property, head up the stairs in the front of the home and enter your code. Once you enter you will see where the property gets its name, Crazy Mermaid! When you enter you will see off to the right, the dining room, but if you go straight behind the wall, you will see the family room with a fireplace, tv and plenty of seating for your whole family. You will also notice that this family room has a beautiful view of the water behind the home, which are canals that run throughout Anna Maria Island. You are welcome to exit the double doors to enjoy the screened in porch also overlooking the pool and canals. This is also a great spot to enjoy a morning coffee during the sunrise or at night (although the sun sets on the other side) you can see the beautiful colors of the sky as the sun sets. Heading back into the house, you will notice the kitchen on your left which will have all your necessities to make your family meals, as well as a breakfast bar, for some more casual dining. Attached to the kitchen is the laundry room and an additional pantry. On the other side of the family room you will also have guest bedrooms and a full bathroom. The first bedroom will have two beds, a queen and a twin. The other bedroom will have a king sized bed (made up of two twins). The guest bedroom with the king bed also has an entrance/exit to the back patio as well. Heading back out to the family room you will notice there are stairs near the front door. These stairs were handmade by the homeowners out of old library bookshelves. Once you get to the top of the handcrafted stairs, you will have another bedroom which will have a full bed. Next door to that, you will see the master suite. The master suite has an attached full bath with double vanities, a large walk in closet, as well as another gorgeous view of the canals behind the house. When you head back downstairs, through the family room to the relaxing screened in porch, you will be able to go down the back staircase leading to the back yard to put dinner on the grill provided. At the bottom of the stairs, you will be met by a pristine private pool which overlooks the canal and you will also see a private dock that leads to the waterway. Mattresses, pillows, sheets, all good. Pocket doors close off hallways and keep noise down for sleeping. Appeared to be an older family home with lots of fun memories. Loved to find the family children's names, dates, ages, and heights marked on laundry room wall. Gracie, Abby and Alek must have had a great life on the island. However, some of the old furniture, bed spreads, drapes, and decor items are beyond life expectancy, dirty, broken, cluttered and need to be discarded. A few window cranks weren't operable. So we decided to have a staycation here. The pool is heated and we were able to easily get our boat in and out on the channel. Even though we only had one car is PLENTY of parking space. The beds were super comfy and you can tell they really take pride in making sure your stay is nice. We had a few questions and when I asked they responded very quickly. Needs nicer sheets. Pillows . Yes, the door buzzed as everyone says to walk out to the screened porch. Not enough time to get out the door. My husband fell trying to get out & is all bruised up. Need grab bars in the shower. Luckily. I was able to reach him, so he could bring a math mat due to the tub being slippery. Sure wish they had bikes or kayaks we could have used. Nice pool. Loved the canal view. Quiet street. Wish the neighbors across canal had dimmers on their bright lights at night. I wanted a place with a pool, canal view, screened in porch and laundry this had all. It was only my husband & I. I don't understand why the rate Included almost double what we were charged per night for a cleaning fee and some other random fee. Pretty ridiculous. We only used 1 bedroom & 1 bath. I wish more places had closet up mirrors. Not as nice as photos made it look. But we enjoyed Anna Marie Island. House is outdated, which you can see clearly in photos so it was no surprise. The pool was clean and warm, the screened in porch was perfect for lounging, and the space was perfect for two small families. One family with two kids stayed downstairs while another family with one child stayed upstairs (so we had our own space despite staying in the same house). We fished off of the dock, and saw many dolphins swimming in the canal. We were Walking distance to what turned into our favorite restaurant (The waterfront). The walk to the beach was a little less convenient, but not horrible. The hosts made this property very enjoyable, as they were very responsive and helpful in some special requests we had. Location and price were excellent, but manager is not close by so if something needed it can take a while. SkyRun did everything that they could, but we had the mishap of the furnace breaking while there. A new furnace was needed and could not be installed until after our visit. We received a 25% discount and were supplied with space heaters. We loved being close to the pier and not far from the beach. Very nice dock out back on the canal. Only comment is that we had to purchase our own dish soap, garbage bags, paper towels, etc. to use during our stay. Not a huge deal but would have liked to know that upfront.
