Hundreds Of Santas Fill The Streets To Ring In The Holiday Season

The 2017 holiday season is officially upon us as jolly Santa Clauses from around the world fly their sleights into Breckenridge for the annual Race of the Santas down Main Street. At the start of every December, more than 500 festive Santas and Mrs. Clauses take over Main Street Breckenridge, filling the town with furry red suits and an overload of holiday cheer. In addition to the hundreds of Kris Kringles frantically dashing for those coveted cookies and milk, many other events will take place as a part of the festivities including the lighting of the Breckenridge Town Tree!

Lighting of Breckenridge Don’t miss Santa Claus flipping the switch to light up the Breckenridge Town Tree. Grab your friends and family and head on over to the Breckenridge Welcome Center at 203 S Main Street. Stay warm as the sun sets by stopping in to Cabin Coffee for a toasty warm mug of Hot Chocolate (my personal favorite) or Caramel Apple Cider. Pro Tip: Get the extra whipped cream. You won’t regret it!

The annual Race of the Santas has become a staple as a part of the Lighting of Breckenridge celebration while also raising money for a good cause! Since the very first Race of the Santas, more than $8,000 has been raised for the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. The BOEC is an incredible organization that has worked tirelessly since 1976 to create specialized adaptive programs for individuals and groups with serious illness, mental disabilities, physical disabilities, and at-risk youth. Over 2500 individuals each year participate in BOEC while learning new skills, facing challenges and overcoming their fears, and enjoying all of the wonderful outdoor activities that Breckenridge has to offer!
