Vail Opening Day

The wait to ski Vail is over, and earlier than expected!  Vail will have their opening day celebration on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 9:00am.  With around 4 feet of natural snow last week, and cold enough temperatures for snowmakers to work with, Vail will open with 500 acres of skiable terrain and access to seven lifts out of Vail Village and Lionshead!  Remember to follow the rules and be safe out there.

For those who wish to get the first chair, or just get an early start, there will be complimentary breakfast burritos from Vail Mountain and hot cocoa while supplies last.

If you haven’t already purchased your lift tickets, no problem!  Purchasing your tickets online will not only save money but will save you time in line.  If you purchase your ticket at least 7 days in advance, they will mail your tickets to you and will be the best price for a one-day ticket.  You will still get a deal on your ticket price, relative to buying it on the mountain, if you purchase your ticket online before midnight the night before you plan on skiing.  You will pick up your tickets from the EpicDay Express Window. The best possible deal would be to purchase multiple day passes at least 7 days from your first day on the slopes online.

Lifts operating for opening day:

  • Gondola One
  • Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19)
  • Born Free Express Lift (#8)
  • Avanti Express (#2)
  • Wildwood Express Lift (#3)
  • Mountain Top Express Lift (#4)
  • Little Eagle Lift (#15)

*A safety reminder from Vail: All guests are reminded that they must observe all posted signs, closures and slow zones, especially during the early-season.  Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage.  Accessing closed terrain is a violation of the Colorado Ski Safety Act and will result in the loss of skiing privileges and could involve prosecution and a fine.

Have fun and stay safe out there!
