The facilities were great. One thing that bothered me was the presence of critters. My sister found mouse droppings on her clothing, I found them by my bed and could hear them at night in the ceiling. I did tell the host about it and she said she would let the caretakers know about it. I felt for the price I paid for the rental of the cabin and additional fees, I should have not have to worry about mouse droppings in the house. Host's response: Thank you Stephanie - the thing with living in the mountains and a very rural area is there will be critters - We set traps and clean but those critters wiggle their way back in. We are so sorry you had some during your stay - we are stepping up our trapping game and hopefully that will help going forward. Paul Stayed Jul, 2024 Review beautiful view , quiet, peaceful Host's response: Thank you for your review. A quiet peaceful stay with a beautiful view can't be beat. Very close to lake Estes Host's response: Thank you for all of your feedback. RMNP SkyRun is a great place and Historical MacCraken cabin is one of those places. Estes Park is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park Shannon Stayed Jun, 2024 Review Cool historic cabin with great views. Had 2 bedrooms one with a trundle bed for my third kid which was fun for the kids. Host's response: Glad you enjoyed this historic cabin! SkyRun Rocky Mountain would love to host your next trip to Estes Park! Chad Stayed Jun, 2024 Review Beautiful historic home in a great location close to everything. Excellent communication. William Stayed Jun, 2024 Review Cool location and ambience. Host's response: Thank you for your review. SkyRun Rocky Mountain would love to host you again. MOUNTAIN GIRL Stayed May, 2024 MacCracken Homestead We had a fantastic time at the cabin. It was so cozy and supplied with more than what we needed. The view of the snow capped mountains from the front porch was amazing. Thank you for making our stay very special as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and usually stay in a small cabin so this was a real treat…… thanks again Host's response: Glad this great cabin and the amazing view made your 20th anniversary special! We would love to host your next anniversary celebration! Katherine Ann Stayed May, 2024 Review Cabin exactly what we were looking for. Quiet surroundings, wonderful view of mountains from home. Wildlife strolling across yard, close to grocery shops, restaurants and main street for browsing/shopping. House amenities like washer and dryer always welcome and in good working order. Evenings out on screened in porch just lovely. We hiked during the day enjoying Rocky Mountain N. P. , did a historical tour Stanley Hotel, visited local museums and over all just enjoyed our days on vacation. Host's response: Glad this great cabin was what you were looking for. It is always fun to see the wildlife right outside the window. SkyRun Rocky Mountain would love to host your next trip to Estes Park. Ben Stayed May, 2024 Review Absolutely loved staying here at the Mac Craken Cabin. Very rustic. Floors worn and unhewn. Walls were logs or split lumber. For the most part all furniture was antique and rustic. But not so rustic you felt you were camping in the woods in a tent. Modern amenities in kitchen and bathrooms. Whole house was heated by a subfloor warmer, and several baseboard floor heaters in the dining room and in one of the bedrooms as well as 2 space heaters in the second bedroom's closet. This was perfect for us, slightly off the beaten track up the side of the mountain, but a quick walk or drive down to everything you would need. GORGEOUS views. Miles away but not really from civilization and smack dab in the middle of Rocky Mountain National Park. However, parents with young children it should be noted that this house is full of older furnishings and antique pieces, as well as a REAL PIANO that works next to a bedroom wall. Do not plan to use the beautiful fireplace. It is prohibited. Host's response: We are happy to hear you loved this great authentic log cabin. Although not actually in the middle of Rocky Mountain National Park it is a close drive to the entrance of the park. We would love to host you again. Kevin Stayed Apr, 2024 Review This was a trip worth every single moment. The cabin was beautiful and had plenty of character. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. The views were spectacular. Caught a glimpse of some wildlife throughout our stay. Overall, excellent experience. Power and water did go out due to a snow storm but was restored after a couple hours. Enough time to explore the essence of the Rockys Host's response: This is a great cabin, a great place to spend a trip that is worth every single moment! We hope you visit us again. Fuz Stayed Apr, 2024 Review lovely views and cozy cabin. Host's response: Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed this great cabin. We would love to host you again. Dan Stayed Mar, 2024 Review We did not ultimately stay at the rental we booked. Upon arriving, we discovered that it was snowed in and inaccessible. We called SkyRun and they were able to immediately reroute us to another rental in fairly close proximity. It wasnt what we booked, but it was very clean, very comfortable, and right along the Big Thompson. SkyRun turned what could have been a pretty inconvenient situation into a really nice weekend. Host's response: We received about 3 feet of snow the day before you arrived, everyone with a blade on their truck plowed for three days or more to dig out residents and visitors alike. Thank you for graciously moving to the property on the Big Thompson River. We are glad you had a nice weekend and would love to host you again. Laramie Stayed Mar, 2024 Review We really enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed was provided. Host's response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We would love to host you again. Jeff Stayed Feb, 2024 Review A vintage cabin that's maintained its rustic charm. The furnishings, tableware, artwork, books, and furniture have clearly been there for generations, so if you're looking for a sanitized and modern cabin this isn't your place. But I loved it! Spectacular views. I'll be back! Host's response: Thank you Jeff for all of your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed one of the best Cabins/views in Estes Park. We'd love to host you again soon. Rachel Stayed Dec, 2023 Review We loved staying here! The door requires some learning, but we figured it out. Love the views and the historic feel throughout. The staff was super helpful! Host's response: Rachel I'm so glad you loved the MacCracken home - that's one of my favorites - reminds me of my childhood. Such good memories and it does have a beautiful view. SkyRun Kay Stayed Sep, 2023 One of a kind cabin! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic cabin. The inside was clean and very cozy. The acreage surrounding the home was beautiful. There was wildlife joining us for breakfast every morning. My favorite place was the large front porch. The location was very convenient to downtown Estes and the National park. I love history and this cabin do not disappoint! Host's response: SkyRun Estes Park is so happy to hear you enjoy that cabin as much as we do. It's truly unique and historical. Amanda Stayed Nov, 2022 Review We loved staying at this historic cabin. Its very close to town by car but set back from the road so it feels secluded. This cabin was so charming and cozy with a view you truly cant beat! We spent a lot of time on the porch with some elk and mule dear visitors right out front. Host's response: Thank you for staying with SkyRun Estes Park. We would love to host you again. Karen W. Stayed Sep, 2022 Nice Place, Beautiful View I enjoyed my stay, but be aware there are strict rules about where you can eat. No eating in the livingroom means no popcorn and a movie. Kitchen and dining room only. There is no AC but there were 2 box fans so if it is warm out, keep this in mind. The room with the queen bed was VERY warm during the day. I also found dirty tissues below one of the nightstands and pots and pans that a previous person used and did not wash properly which leads me to believe the cleaning staff could do better at checking this stuff, especially when paying such high cleaning fees these days. There are also a lot of antique dishes and nothing states what is microwave safe. I know due to my age, but my grown daughter did not. Just be aware. The sheets and towels were all clean and there were spare towels. There was a massive fly issue in the kitchen. They come in through an ill-fitting window by the stove and I found no flyswatter around so had to make due with a towel which I did toss in the laundry with my load. They are adamant about keeping the windows locked when you leave, which is smart and you should, however when we arrived we found many of the windows unlocked, but not open. I just happened to check my bedroom window before bed and sure enough, it was not locked so check the windows. If their cleaning staff is supposed to be checking this between guests, they need to have a talk with them (I'm not sure if they are supposed to be checking this or not).Overall, flies not withstanding, the cabin was fun, it has an amazing view, it is close to anything you could want in the Estes Park area and my daughter and I enjoyed our get away. Host's response: SkyRun is pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are certainly going to bring the screens to the attention to maintenance, and yes a flyswatter this time of year is an excellent idea. The MacCracken Homestead is a historical home, glad you could appreciate its charm. SkyRun would love to Host your next Rocky Mountain Adventure! Rebecca Stayed Sep, 2022 Review Weve visited Estes Park so many times, staying at a lot of different placesmotels, lodges and cabins included. Theyve all had their good and less good qualities. The McCracken Homestead has a host of great qualities! Its easy to access and pretty close to town but hidden enough to welcome deer and elk, foggy mornings for having coffee on the screened in porch, clean rooms, well appointed kitchen, comfy beds andplenty of hot water! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Host's response: We are glad you had a wonderful stay! SkyRun Estes Park would love to host you again. brandon c. Stayed Aug, 2022 Perfect getaway This place was perfect. We had Elk, Mule deer, Humming birds all around the property to enjoy morning coffee with. loved how close it was to downtown Estes Park, yet how isolated it was. Will definitely be back. Host's response: We are so pleased you enjoyed this property. Please let SkyRun Estes Park host you again soon. Taylor Stayed Aug, 2022 Review Really cool place thats very close to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Did a fly fishing trip and stayed here 4 nights. Awesome old school cabin. Kitchen had everything we needed and the grill worked great. Somewhat secluded, but youre still very close to a lot. No A/C was not a problem, even in August. Communication from host was great. Never had to reach out for info. Would definitely stay here again. Host's response: Thank you for your nice positive review. SkyRun would love to host you again soon. Gina T. Stayed Aug, 2022 Great Location Loved the porch and the location waking up every morning to see that beautiful view was priceless Host's response: Thank you for the review the views are so gorgeous. We are pleased you enjoyed your vacation. SkyRun Estes Park would love to host you again soon. Ginny T. Stayed Aug, 2022 Beautiful location Wonderful old cabin. Host's response: Ginny - Thank you for the review - I love this old cabin, such history and its fabulous. We hope to host you again at SkyRun Estes Park. Ellen G. Stayed Jul, 2022 Very Overpriced PROS: Quiet, conveniently close to Estes Park, charming, comfortable beds, historic interest. CONS: Way overpriced for a weekend stay when all fees were included. The front porch was flooded in a rain storm and furnishings looked weathered and worn out. Poor lighting at night. Kitchen furnishings were quaint odds and ends. Only electric heat is in one bedroom and the dining area. The bathroom space heaters would be dangerous to use unsupervised. The high price outweighed the historic charm. Host's response: MacCracken Homestead This historic cabin was built and owned by the first Park Ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park. The front porch is a screened in porch thus will get wet. We will talk to the owner about adding additional lights. The space heater is to be used supervised and to heat the bathroom up before you take a shower/bath. SkyRun would love to host you again in the future. John W. Stayed Jul, 2022 Charming cabin Very easy to access property. Great location - just outside of town. Cabin is truly charming and cozy. Stayed Jun, 2022 Amazing View! We spent almost all weekend on the screened porch, taking in the amazing view. A bald eagle even flew right by, landing on a tree behind the cabin. We absolutely would stay here again! Host's response: Thank you for your review. The screened in porch at the MacCracken Homestead is the best place to relax and and enjoy a quiet getaway!! We would love to host you again. Gregory G. Stayed Jun, 2022 Excellent Stay! We stayed for 2 nights and found the cabin to fit our needs perfectly. It was in a great quiet location but close enough to town with easy access to stores and restaurants. 15 mins to RMNP. Loved reading some of the old books given to the original owner! Host's response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We would love to host you again. Ellen C. Stayed Jun, 2022 Great mountain views One could sit at the front windows all day and enjoy the mountain views from this historic homestead in Estes Park, Colorado. Add to that the elk that grazed in the yard every morning and you have the perfect recipe for a relaxing mountain vacation. The home, which sits almost at the entryway to Rocky Mountain National Park, is comfortable, cozy, and well-stocked with essentials. Nearby Estes Park offers a variety of restaurants, shopping venues, and a lovely river walk adjacent to the downtown area. All in all, a very scenic and lovely place to be. Host's response: Thank you for staying with SkyRun! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and had everything you needed! We would love to host you again! Val Stayed Dec, 2021 Review There were no surprises and the MacCracken homestead was as advertised. Nicely appointed to display the history of the cabin. Great views of the mountains and elk grazing from the porch. We would consider renting again in the future. Host's response: Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the history of this cabin. The view and the wildlife are the best part of Estes Park. We would love to host you again. Christina R. Stayed Nov, 2021 Amazing location and view We enjoyed our stay, and already trying to plan our return trip. Host's response: We are glad you enjoyed this property and the amazing views. SkyRun would love to host you again. Janet B. Stayed Nov, 2021 MacCracken Cabin- A Gem on a Golden Hillside in Estes Park! The cabin is full of history and charm, yet very comfortable. The kitchen is fully furnished. Prior to arrival we were concerned about heat. No one replied directly to my questions prior to the trip, but the heat was not an issue at all. The cabin had everything we needed and more! We had a lovely and memorable stay. Thank you. Host's response: This historic cabin is a great place to make memories. I apologize that no one answered your questions about the heat prior to your arrival. We work to answer every question that comes in, I am sorry that we missed yours. SkyRun would love to host you again. Kimberly M. Stayed Nov, 2021 Quiet getaway The historic home is a short drive from downtown Estes, offering a quiet and peaceful oasis. The home itself offers historic charm along with a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. Drive time to hikes is modest and easy. The furnishings, particularly in the living room, do not match the photos. Comfort is modest. Though there are many light fixtures the living room is dark in the evening. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet place to unwind the cabin is worth checking out. Host's response: Thank you for staying with SkyRun! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and the charm of the cabin. We hope to host you again! Eugene Stayed Oct, 2021 Review great location, cozy cabin, straight forward rules and check in Host's response: Happy to hear you enjoyed this cozy cabin. We hope you will stay with SkyRun Estes Park again. Alan Stayed Oct, 2021 Review Charming, comfy, and very well maintained. Views from the front porch amazing and hard to beat among other such accommodations in the Estes Park area. No fires allowed in the beautiful classic fireplace and the antiquated television equipment were disappointing. Host's response: Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and the amazing views. SkyRun Estes Park would love to host you again. Carlos L. Stayed Oct, 2021 Nice Place Very clean and good location. Great communication with property management and is highly recommended. Host's response: Thank you for staying with us, Carlos! We're so glad you enjoyed the stay. We're always happy to help. We hope to see you again! DAWN Stayed Oct, 2021 Review The history here is so fun to see. We felt honored to stay in this cabin! Robin S. Stayed Sep, 2021 Great Little Cabin in the Mountains! Very nice. Quiet neighborhood, and outside the city limits. Great views, and would recommend to anyone wanting a little privacy, with the convenience of still being close to the park. Host's response: Thank you for your review. Glad you had a great stay. Mountain Man Stayed Sep, 2021 Great Rental My wife, son, his wife and I had a wonderful stay. Very well equipped, very clean, easy access to town and very peaceful setting. We will be back. Bruce h. Stayed Sep, 2021 Dirty Floors For the amount we paid in cleaning fees, we were very disappointed in the cleanliness of the floors. I don't think the floor and rugs under the couch hasn't been cleaned in months. The overall floors were dirty, this was apparent when the bottom of our socks at the end of the day were dark brown! Host's response: Thank you for your feedback. The wood floors are cleaned and the carpets vacuumed between each guest. However, I will pass this review on to management to make sure the cleaners get under the furniture and see if there is a better way to ensure the overall cleanliness of the floors in this historic log cabin built by the first Park Ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park. We hope you were able to enjoy the rustic mountain charm of this home that still contains many of the original furnishing, photos, art and mementos of the park ranger who built it. Scott S. Stayed Aug, 2021 Great Stay! Really enjoyed our time here. Felt the history of the place while also being comfortable. Host's response: We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your time at MacCracken, Scott! We hope to host you again in the future! Matthew S. Stayed Aug, 2021 Estes Park Nice place and good location. Host's response: Thanks Matthew, we're glad you enjoyed your stay with SkyRun! Matthew V. Stayed Aug, 2021 Family Break Good experience. Very nice cabin. Very comfortable. Host's response: Thanks Matthew, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay with SkyRun! Doug C. Stayed Aug, 2021 I loved it. others liked it Great location. I loved the setting. As others have described is rustic. Is clean. Kitchen well stocked.. New stove. The one complaint from others in my party is the furnishing in the living room are different than photos. 2 chairs and sofa are not as nice, worn and not very comfortable.. Pictures should match. With living room furnishing changed was hard to gather comfortably. Would have spent less time there but was Olympics time and did gather to watch in the evening. Host's response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with SkyRun, Doug! Thank you for the feedback, we will definitely pass it along to the owner. We hope to see you again soon! Timothy R. Stayed Aug, 2021 Great little cabin. The Mac Cracken Homestead was a unique experience for us. A little historic atmosphere for your stay. It was close to town and the attraction and far enough away to not feel the town when you were at the cabin. Actually saw elk the morning we left. Host's response: We are so glad you enjoyed the history the MacCracken Homestead has to offer! It is a fun and unique place to stay. We hope you can stay with us again! George S. Stayed Jul, 2021 Fun in the Rockies This was a great old property that made us feel part of the Colorado mountain culture. It was quiet and had plentyOf room. Would stay there again! It was a great place to come home to each day after mountain adventures. Host's response: So happy you enjoyed your stay with SkyRun Estes Park and got to experience the beauty and peacefulness of the Rocky Mountains. Ron C. Stayed Jun, 2021 Estes Park Cabin Getaway We were hoping for an authentic, rustic weekend getaway and the MacCracken Homestead did not disappoint! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location was ideal! Linda S. Stayed Jun, 2021 Mac cracken heaven Great location with open land for great views Mountains views surround. Easy access to Rocky Mountain Host's response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our SkyRun managed property. Gabrielle Stayed Jun, 2021 Review A clean & historic place to stay! We enjoyed every minute. Host's response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our SkyRun vacation property. We hope to see you again soon! Stephanie M. Stayed Jun, 2021 Beautiful, historic property The cabin is so unique and historic! It is like staying in a museum. The property is exactly as described and also full of fun surprises, like the antique books and the handwritten notes on the doorframe documenting temperatures dating back to the 1930s. So cool! We used the cabin as a base for exploring RMNP and also had a great time exploring the property - big boulders to climb and incredible views! Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful stay, but one complaint: The cleaning and additional fees were REALLY high. VRBO publicized that the reservation was 100% refundable, but that did not include the additional fees. We ended up spending much more than we intended and were not able to cancel the reservation, even on the same day, without losing hundreds of dollars in fees. I'm sure I could have seen this coming with a little digging into the listing, but I have never had this experience and was caught off guard. Mentioning it here in case it helps future visitors - look at the full price, not the nightly price. And I wish I had booked directly from SkyRun and not through VRBO! That would have saved some money as well. Robert Stayed May, 2021 Review really good place Merilan D. Stayed May, 2021 Cabin Cabin was rustic, clean and organized. Host's response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our SkyRun managed property. Ashley N. Stayed Apr, 2021 Views and Location The MacCracken cabin is on a hillside just east of Estes Park, up the hill from the lake. There were a few cabins nearby, but that was no problem at all. It was very quiet and still at night. We loved the snow showers and the big snowstorm that arrived just as we did! Henry, from the KOA campground down the hill, took it upon himself to be a good neighbor, as he called it, and plowed our driveway. The cabin provided everything we needed. Seriously, everything. We are checking our schedule to see when we can return to the MacCracken cabin. Thank you! Host's response: Thank you, Ashley! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at MacCracken and hope you'll be able to make that return visit soon! Emily Stayed Apr, 2021 Review We had a great stay at this old cabin! Its got all of the quirks that we love about old houses: antiques, wavy glass, and creaky doors. Its not plush like a 5-star resort with room service but it was clean and very comfortable, the location cant be beat, and the views from the porch are choice. Its secluded enough to have privacy but not so far away that you dont have cell service or a 2-minute drive to shops. Wed recommend it to old house lovers and those who want to stay in a place with a story. SkyRun was easy to work with and communicated everything we needed to know quickly and efficiently. Thanks for a relaxing trip! Chandler P. Stayed Mar, 2021 Cant beat it! Amazing cabin, views and town. Wouldnt stay anywhere else in Estes. Host's response: Thank you, Chandler! We will hope to have you back again soon! Elsa Stayed Feb, 2021 Review Muy bonito MaryBeth Stayed Jan, 2021 Review MacCracken was a great stay! Clean, (no mice), and in a beautiful location with lots of land to explore. 10/10 views Host's response: Thank you, MaryBeth! The cabin was Exactly what I was picturing in my head! I loved the antiques, the fine details, and I cant count how many baths we took and that wonderful bathtub! Perfect I cant wait to come back! Stephanie Stayed Jan, 2021 Review A wonderful rustic cabin with beautiful views of the mountains! Very clean and had plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Very clean and comfortable. Short drive into the park as well! We will definitely stay here again! 2 deer came by daily to graze. Vladimir Stayed Jan, 2021 Review Great Place! Thanks Nicole Stayed Dec, 2020 Review Very quaint and cozy rustic cabin. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The hosts were very responsive to the issue we had and things were fixed right away. We would love to come back every Christmas! Kevin Stayed Dec, 2020 Review Love the location and the view of Longs Peak on the patio. Very unique property. Courtney S. Stayed Oct, 2020 Mom & daughter time It was just us and we had such a great time. Watching the sunrise & sunset was beautiful. It was just quite and close enough to everything. Host's response: So glad you enjoyed this amazing authentic cabin. Please come see us again soon! Shannon Stayed Oct, 2020 Review Sky Run was very professional & quick to respond. Perfect! We loved the front porch!! Rocky Mountain National Park was beautiful. We saw elk, moose, coyote, deer. We loved it all! Valerie Stayed Aug, 2020 Review Rustic and beautiful. Carolyn H. Stayed Aug, 2020 Home sweet home Loved cabin & setting (had hoped to be more isolated but not too bad overall). Great response when I emailed so that's reassuring if anything urgent would've come up. Great time! Host's response: We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the cabin and hope you'll be back again soon! Great Place to Explore Every morning deer and elk passed through the yard. Be sure to explore the back yard behind the cabin - great place to explore and rock climb! There's a grave marker for Robert MacCracken back there too - great history!! Mark H. Stayed Jul, 2020 If you want rustic beauty, this is the place to stay. Very charming, exactly as listed in the property summary. Very clean, well-stocked with things needed for cooking and hanging out at the cabin. When you read other reviews about the close proximity of wildlife here, that is no joke. Multiple elk, mule deer, black bear (a young one), rabbits, and ground squirrels galore. Thankfully those all stayed outside, but we did have a fair share of late-night mouse visitors. Was strange at first, but to be expected, and not a major nuisance.Extremely well located. Far enough from town to feel remote and close to nature (see paragraph above, amazing!), but a 5-10 minute drive will get you to whatever you want to do in Estes Park.Rustic charm galore. But I must emphasize "rustic". Very clean, well maintained, bathrooms were great, hot water, and beautifully decorated with antiques and books to peruse. Keep in mind though that at its core it's a well constructed 100+-year-old cabin with some nice updates. The MacCracken Homestead will not disappoint visitors looking for a unique vacation experience. Host's response: Thank you, Mark! We're so glad to hear that you appreciated the MacCracken Homestead's rustic charm and character, it certainly is one of a kind! (And you had some very impressive wildlife sightings!! I'm jealous!) We hope to host your next adventure in Estes! Zachary Stayed Jul, 2020 Review Cool old cabin. Dustin C. Stayed Jun, 2020 Great Place We had a great time at the property. Lovely location. Look forward to staying again. Host's response: Glad you had a great time in this amazing authentic cabin. Please come back again soon! Emmanuel H. Stayed Jun, 2020 Beautiful historic cabin Large cabin for a family of 4, well located, in a quiet area, 5 min drive from grocery stores and shops. View from the patio is amazing. Lots of historic artefacts add to the lodge's charm. You might have to share the property with mice...I didn't mind too much and hid food in the cupboards. Bears can visit as well...Anyway, wonderful stay. Host's response: Thank you, Emmanuel! We're so happy that you enjoyed your stay at the MacCracken Homestead cabin and appreciated it's character and views! We hope you'll be back for a return visit soon! Kerry Z. Stayed Jun, 2020 It was a nice little vacation It was a good time. The cabin was nice Host's response: Glad you enjoyed it. Come back soon!! Stephanie H. Stayed Nov, 2019 Nice cabin Very comfortable. Host's response: We're so pleased you were comfortable in your vacation accommodations. We look forward to your return, Stephanie! Debbie H. Stayed Oct, 2019 Sky run needs to emphasize which door the lock box is on for people who get there after dark like we We did enjoyed our stay at the Mac Cracken cabin but feel like a few things wouldve made it more enjoyable such as a little bit larger TV in a more localized area where everyone in the living room could see it and also there was only one shower in the cabin not counting the claw tub with the handheld sprayer and the see through shower curtain. We had 4 adults sharing one shower. We had to go buy batteries for the remote for the TV and we had to go buy detergent so we could wash towels. The detergent was caked and we werent able to use it. I called the office after hours about the lock box and no one ever called me back on that and I called the office because the TV got off the channel. No call back! Host's response: We're glad that you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for letting us know about the things that you were unhappy with. We apologize that you were not able to get a hold of anyone on the after hours number or the regular number. If you leave a message, we try to get back to you as soon as we can! We hope you had a safe trip and get to return to Estes Park again soon! Carole C. Stayed Sep, 2019 Wish I had more time. If you like upscale/fancy hotels and that's what you are used to DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN. If you love antiques, peace and quiet and privacy, by all means RENT THIS CABIN! If I had a month to spend at this cabin it probably would leave me wanting more. This cabin was clean, there wasn't even a trace of a mouse (despite other reviews and yes, I was on the lookout). The front porch was to die for to just sit and relax. There is nothing around it to keep someone who is looking for nightlife or some other form of entertainment. The only thing I took issue with was we were under the impression that it was IN RMNP. It is not, it is on the other side of Estes Park (east side I believe). Everything was close enough for a short ride. The morning we left there was a family of mule deer that came down the hill. Didn't even attempt to get close to them - they knew we were there and didn't seem to mind. I would rent this cabin again in a heartbeat - yes, it was THAT awesome. Host's response: Thank you, Carole! We're thrilled to hear that you were so happy with the MacCracken cabin and look forward to your return! Katie Stayed Sep, 2019 Review This place is great. Its way up on a hill so you get that secluded kind of feel. The location is great, and the view from the front porch is awesome. We will be back! Host's response: We are thrilled to hear that you guys enjoyed the view and location, and we look forward to your next visit! James Stayed Aug, 2019 Review Beautiful and historic cabin very close to Estes Park (a tourist trap) and the Rocky Mountain National Park (one of the wonders of the world). Accommodation is a bit basic, but the cabin is well equipped with two good bedrooms and a spacious kitchen, as well as a separate dining room and covered porch. Plenty of room to park. It has an outside barbecue, but indoor fires are not allowed. Great for a log cabin experience. Host's response: We're pleased you enjoyed the historic significance of this cabin. Many people enjoy staying in the cabin built by the first Rocky Mountain ranger. We are pleased to be able to provide this experience to our guests. Gabrielle A. Stayed Aug, 2019 Family getaway Beautiful historic cabin with fantastic view of Longs peak. Great location. Cabin well equipped. Host's response: Thank you, Gabrielle! We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed staying at the MacCracken Homestead and hope that you'll be back for a return trip soon! Derek Stayed Aug, 2019 Review Great and unique setting in Estes Park! This was a perfect jumping off point for our exploration of Rocky Mountain National Park. Host's response: Thank you, Derek! I'm so glad that you enjoyed staying at the home and that it was the perfect base camp for all of your RMNP adventures! We hope you'll be back to stay again soon! Nancy Stayed Aug, 2019 Review Our stay was amazing! The views from the back porch were breathtaking! It was easy to find the place. The place was cozy and comfortable! Host's response: Thank you, Nancy! We're so glad that you had an amazing stay and enjoyed the property's views! We hope that you'll be back to stay again soon! Debra Stayed Jul, 2019 Review Great place to stay while visiting the park. Close to downtown, yet very quiet and peaceful. Host's response: Thank you, Debra! We're so glad that you found this a great place for your Estes Park vacation and hope that you'll be back to stay with us again! Amy Stayed Jul, 2019 Review If you are looking for a bit of RMNP history in an amazing cottage with outstanding views, the MacCracken house is for you! Its rustic charm is only matched by the Mountain views from your screened in front porch. The fully stocked kitchen and plenty of space to spread out will help to keep you enjoying family time while you take in the sights of the park and the town of Estes Park. Host's response: We're pleased you enjoyed this unique vacation cabin and all Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park have to offer. Do you hear the mountains? They're calling you to return! Location, view and history I am a firm believer in knowing what you sign up for - that being said, the fact that there were mice was not a surprise. It definitely wasnt a deal breaker - just would be nice if it could be better controlled. The views were incredible, the atmosphere cozy and the porch and dining room were wonderful. Anyone looking for fancy - this is not the place. But if you appreciate the history of a place and like antiques, it is definitely for you. We loved our stay and exploring the area! Host's response: Thank you for your comments. We're pleased you enjoyed this special cabin in Estes Park. We are working with a company to address the issue with mice. As you indicated, this can be an ongoing issue with an old, historic cabin. We look forward to your return. Jason Stayed Jul, 2019 Review The screened front porch has amazing views and the cabin is close to attractions/downtown. We saw elk, a coyote and deer all while just sitting on the front porch. The cabin itself is decorated in period but with modern amenities. As soon as you walk in, the feeling of the history of the cabin asserts itself making the visit so much more immersive. We definitely enjoyed the visit and hope to return next year!As a note, if you plan to go hiking in RMNP, the shuttle at the visitor's center makes accessing the park much easier on busy days. Host's response: We're so pleased the wildlife cooperated as you enjoyed the view from the screened in porch. The Rocky Mountains are always calling - fall and winter are also magical times to stay in this historic cabin. We look forward to your return visit. Garrett Stayed Jul, 2019 Review This cabin is perfect for anyone looking to stay a bit outside the hustle and bustle but still be close enough to easily access the town and RMNP. The home is amazing but expect what you might with an old, rustic cabin. Floors will creak, doors will stick, etc., but you really cant beat the experience of staying in a place like this one. The kitchen was perfect for cooking family meals, and sitting out on the porch together looking at the mountains was my favorite memory. As long as it stays as secluded as it is and the area isnt further developed, Ill be booking again in the future. Host's response: Thank you for staying in this true Rocky Mountain cabin. We're pleased you enjoyed the cabin and all it has to offer. Imagine the fall colors and wildlife activity from the comfort of the porch! We look forward to your return! Jennifer Stayed Jun, 2019 Review Amazing! Just like staying in a museum! Host's response: Thank you, Jennifer! We are so glad that you enjoyed the home's character and history and hope that you'll be back again! Jennifer P. Stayed Jun, 2019 Great views and location Beautiful rustic cabin in a great location and amazing views. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of space for everyone. Keep in mind the cabin is quite rustic and we did see a mouse or two, but with the cabin being mostly original, that is almost to be expected. It in no way detracted from our stay. They had plenty of dishes and cooking supplies and having a washer and dryer was awesome. Nice walks right out the back door. We even had a bear trying to get in the trash and were able to watch from the kitchen window. All in all, a great vacation and great cabin. We will be back! Host's response: We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the MacCracken Homestead! It really does offer a true mountain experience! Thank you for being careful to use the bear-proof trash cans, (how fun that you got to enjoy watching him from the safety of the home!) We're happy that the kitchen and cabin as a whole provided everything you needed for a comfortable vacation and look forward to your return trip! Hannah Stayed Jun, 2019 Review Wonderful, comfortable setting with the most spectacular views. Close to Estes Park and rmp. Great place to stay!! Host's response: Thank you, Hannah! We're so glad that the home a comfortable getaway and enjoyed its location and views! We hope you'll be back to stay again soon! Kim Stayed May, 2019 Review The cabin was so homey and just what I expected after seeing the pictures on the internet. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch with the absolutely beautiful view. Even though it was cold outside, we still sat out there a lot. So peaceful. We never got tired of seeing the snow capped mountains while sitting on the porch!!! Host's response: Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed your accommodations! That makes us very happy - good people enjoying special space! Please contact us when you're ready to return! James Stayed Apr, 2019 Review This cabin is charming, cozy, and full of so many fun little things. I will definitely be returning in the future! Host's response: We'll be pleased to host you again! Kurt Stayed Feb, 2019 Review We enjoyed our stay at the MacCracken Homestead. It is a convenient location to Estes Park and RMNP beyond and the cabin itself is charming and comfortable. Host's response: We hope you return and work with SkyRun to reserve this home again, or to find another vacation home in Estes Park. Alexis Stayed Jan, 2019 Review Beautiful property! Host's response: Summer and fall in Estes Park is beautiful - please contact us if you hear the mountains calling you again! Nick Stayed Jan, 2019 Review This place is AMAZING! The cabin is very private but incredibly close to everything. The views are breathtaking. The owner is incredibly responsive. The cabin is spacious and yet cozy. The wood burning fireplace is a highlight for sure. We will definitely be back. Talked about making it a tradition. Host's response: Thank you for your review and comments, Nick. We hope you DO make this a tradition! We apologize about any info in the cabin that's outdated. It's time to attend to that in all our properties now that we're out of the busy season. Thank you for mentioning it! Melissa P. Stayed Jan, 2019 Cozy cabin with beautiful views of the mountains! Very cozy but spacious cabin with great views of the mountains! Watching the mule deer from the front porch was certainly a bonus to an already great experience. The owners were wonderful to work with and were quick to answer any questions we had. It's close enough to town for shopping and restaurants but far enough away for the seclusion you're looking for. We were sad to leave. We will be back!! Host's response: Thank you for your review and comments. We will be pleased if you reserve again! Summer and fall in Estes Park are also great times to try out another Rocky Mountain adventure! Melissa N. Stayed Jan, 2019 WONDERFUL PLACE TO ESCAPE We had such an amazing time in this beautiful rustic cabin! The fireplace was magical! The views from the screened in porch were magnificent, even though it was 26 degrees, I got some blankets and sat outside with my coffee. The house is just wonderful! Beds; showers; everything was great! Make sure to bring lots of firewood! Kyle G. Stayed Jan, 2019 Amazing Cabin If you are looking for a rustic cabin this place is great! Loved the fireplace and cook stove. There was 35 head of elk in our front yard. Great Stay! Host's response: Hi Kyle,We are thrilled that you enjoyed this historic cabin...and to see a herd right out your front door -- awesome! Please come back very soon to stay at MacCracken Homestead in Estes Park.Happy New Year!SkyRun Estes Park Team Pam Stayed Dec, 2018 Review If renting the MacCracken Homestead, you are in for a treat! It's a step back in time and a one-of-a-kind experience. It's best not to count on the sofa bed as it's not at all comfortable (even by sofa bed standards). Host's response: Thank you for your comments and review. We will contact the home owner about replacing the sleeper sofa mattress. We appreciate your patience during the very busy holiday season in Estes Park. A holiday in the mountains is everyone's dream! Heather S. Stayed Nov, 2018 Cozy cabin This historic cabin was a nice change of pace from staying in a hotel in Estes Park. Pros: The cabin was perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4. Views are beautiful and the history of the cabin is interesting. It is only 5 min from downtown Estes. 3 min from Grocery store. Cons: Fireplace was inoperable which was huge for us. We showed up expecting to start a nice cozy fire as it was snowing outside and were disappointed we didn't know ahead of time it was not in working order. Cabin is not as secluded as expected. Large home renovation/construction project going on next door. Smaller issues: Radio did not work properly, coffee maker could stand to be replaced and dishes checked for cleanliness by cleaning crew. We had to wash dishes and utensils before they could be used. Linens and towels were fresh and bathrooms seemed clean, but the overall cleanliness of the cabin needed a bit of attention. We had to knock down cobwebs and wipe off countertops when we arrived. If the cleanliness had been better and a few of the amenities upgraded I would have given this cabin 5 stars. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin. Host's response: Hello Heather, We apologize for the issues during your stay. Thank you for bringing these items to our attention. The cleaning and maintenance supervisors have been alerted to the issues and they are being addressed. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the cabin otherwise and hope that you'll be back to visit Estes Park soon. The SkyRun Estes Park Team David Stayed Oct, 2018 Review We loved everything about this cabin and can't wait to visit again. We used this as our staging ground to visit RMNP and couldn't have chosen a better place. It is out of the way enough as not to have many neighbors but close to everything we wanted to do. The description and pictures of the place are a perfect representation of the cabin. We did a fair amount of cooking and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, small appliances, etc. Host's response: We're so pleased you enjoyed MacCracken, Estes Park and RMNP! We do hope you return and contact us to accommodate you in the very near future! Best wishes to you, David! Ashlee Stayed Oct, 2018 Review Rent this place! From location and basic amenities, to trying something a little different, this place was great. For a rustic cabin experience, you get modern amenities, plenty of towels and linens, and a decently stocked kitchen. We loved looking at the antiques from the furnishings to wall hangings to dishware - very cool. The location is perfect. Semi-remote so you feel disconnected, but a two-minutes drive to restaurants and 5 to main shopping. Wildlife watching was abundant from the moment we pulled up. Overall experience was great and communication from Skyrun was above what we expected as we navigated a snowy drive from Denver. Host's response: Hi Ashlee! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay at SkyRun's MacCracken Homestead in Estes Park. I will pass on the kind words to our team our goal is to make every stay enjoyable and we're glad we hit the mark with you! Please come back to visit again soon. Snowshoeing in the park is an amazing experience. RoxannaOct 2018 Karen Stayed Oct, 2018 Review Saw mule deer on the property. Its a great mix of authentic rustic cabin but with modern amenities. Host's response: Thank you for staying with us Karen. We hope you're already planning a return visit. We hope to host you again in the very near future! Kent S. Stayed Sep, 2018 Secluded and rustic, yet close to town and RMNP! This was the perfect spot for four people. We enjoyed different meals at the cabin and some in town. The site was perfect for us....secluded, yet close to town and RMNP. My only suggestion would be to have a separate container for recyclables. We did find the Waste Management facility, so it worked out fine. Nicki was phenomenal in getting some prescription meds sent next day to our next location....excellent service!!!! Host's response: Hi Kent,We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at MacCracken Homestead. I will pass on your comments to our team. And we think Nicki is awesome too! It's always our goal to make sure our guests are comfortable during their stay and beyond! Please come back to visit soon! View from front screened porch was gorgeous in the morning. Located near my favorite breakfast spot...Notch Top, which was a big bonus. Host's response: Thank you for your review and comments. We're so pleased you enjoyed your unique and historic accommodations! Please think of SkyRun when you need another mountain escape. Perhaps a winter snowshoeing adventure??? Derek Stayed Sep, 2018 Review Beautiful views and rustic atmosphere Host's response: Hello Derek,We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at SkyRun's historic MacCracken Homestead. Can you believe that the first Rocky Mountain National Park Ranger built that? Still amazes us how beautiful the views are from there. Please come back soon for another visit. Maybe some snowshoeing in the Park or for a holiday retreat?Roxanna - Sept 2018 Chris G. Stayed Aug, 2018 Loved the house, great location and the VIEWS!!!! This house was everything we hoped it would be. Felt like a cabin in the remote woods but was super close to town and Rocky Mountain National Park. The best part was the views of the mountains right from the screened in porch. Absolutely stunning! This house was perfect for our family of 5. Host's response: Thank you for your lovely review. We're so pleased you enjoyed your accommodations and our beautiful views. We hope you'll return and stay again! Alexa Stayed Aug, 2018 Review If you crave an authentic cabin with incredible views from a classic screened porch, this is your place. MacCracken Cabin is one of those one-of-a-kind special spots updated with all the comforts of 21st century living. It was a great launchpad for our 3 days hiking in RMNP. Kitchen was well stocked and extremely functional as we only ate out once. Great beds, good shower, boom box- so bring your CD's and TV/wifi for those who need to connect. But the best was the authentic cabin atmosphere of getting back to another era of simplicity while hiking in one of the most beautiful and serene parks in the US. Host's response: Thank you for your review and comments, Alexa. We're so pleased you enjoyed and appreciated the charm and uniqueness of MacCracken Homestead cabin. We look forward to your return visit! Carol Mark Stayed Jul, 2018 Review The space is great, but keep in mind it was built in the early 1900s. We loved the historical value of the property. Host's response: Thank you for your kind review, Mark. Good point to remind others this is a historic cabin with all it's charms and quirks. Please contact us at SkyRun when you're planning another Rocky Mountain getaway. Carol Todd E. Stayed Jul, 2018 Wonderful cabin This is a very rustic but comfortable cabin on the edge of Estes Park. It easily accommodated our 4 family members. The two bedrooms, two full baths plus pullout sofa bed and trundle were all very comfortable. The kitchen has all you need to cook inside or outside on the grill. Fast WiFi and satellite TV were bonuses. We loved our stay and hope to return. Carol with Sky Run was awesome, responding so quickly to our questions and a few very minor needs. Availability Select your travel dates to view a detailed quote.
