Daytime temps in house were 83-85 degrees. Reached out to management and were told to open windows. Host's response: Thank you for your review. To be fair, I talked you through finding the thermostats and turning them down and asked that you let me know if that did not help. The first thing our maintenance tech would have done is set the thermostats at the proper temperature. I then told you to open windows to cool down the home at that moment but not as a way to control the heat long term. I asked again that you call if adjusting the thermostat did not take care of the situation. Our maintenance tech has not had to go out and we have had no further complaints. I was traveling with an infant and they were able to provide a high chair and pack n play upon request. The first pack n play did have an issue, but they brought a replacement the next day. We also had a maintenance request that was fulfilled the same day.- great view, even at night with the Milky Way. The cabin windows are east facing, so the morning sun can be blinding.- Bedding is very comfortable. They provide both a soft and firm pillow to use.Things to note: - The cleaning could have been better. The carpet had a good amount of hair, plus hair pins.- The photos are definitely shot with an ultrawide angle lens, giving a false sense of space. It's still big enough, but not as big as the photos may lead you to believe.- It can get warm with the afternoon sun. It was about 10 degrees warmer in the cabin than outdoors when we would return for the evening. we did discover an attic fan towards the end of our stay, that helped. The only good thing about it was its location, the quiet neighborhood and the playground outside for the kids. The property was clean but not thoroughly clean, I had expected it to be a lot more cleaner especially underneath the window of the lower toilet it collected dust and spider webs, the house had some insects and I found a spider on my bed. The house was accessible only through the upper floor which is inconvenient for the elderly, the kitchen was on the upper floor as well. One of the bathroom had a fan but there was no switch for it. The lights in the table tennis room only worked with the fan its attached to, if you want lights you have to have the fan operating too as the switch was not working. While it's literally a short walk to several restaurants, groceries, and the new Bird's Nest coffee shop...you still feel like you're away from town and nestled in the mountains. The only thing I would suggest for families is that the home is not ideal for tiny ones. We were unable to affix a baby gate in front of the stairs and it was not ideal. The access to the lower level where you will find the 3rd bed and 2nd bath is accessed by spiral stairs which are a bit tight but worked for us.The home was clean and the laundry was nice to have available. Appliances appeared to be fairly new. The only issue is ventilation on the main floor as the big windows do not open and other openings are minimal. Spacious with beautiful views and plenty of room for sitting and dining. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. Roomy wrap-around deck with plenty of chairs. An excellent gas barbecue grill that we used for grilling steaks. The only negative is that when the temps were in the high 70s and low 80s, the upper story was uncomfortably hot, even with all the provided fans blowing. For the grandkids walking the wraparound porch was great the the swing set was a huge bonus; spiral staircase was a potential hazard. Ping pong table was a bonus for the 30 yr olds! Quick access to park entrance was great; bonus was here of 30 elk that walked thru the neighborhood one morning! We visited in mid-June, in which it was quite hot outside. A bit of the downside to the cabin is that there's no window that can be opened to get air circulation in the main room. Other than that, we enjoyed the a amenities of this cabin. The deck was wonderful. We even had a special visit from a family of elks on one evening. Games and game room were a big hit! Did have to keep the fans going to keep cool, but that really wasn't a big issue - outside temp never more than 68 while we were there. We especially enjoyed the wraparound deck. You can tell that the owners go above and beyond to make sure their guests are comfortable. Note that there is no AC at this cabin. It made the evenings/nights a little uncomfortable, but there is a bedroom in the basement. We had our three-year-old and one-year-old with us, and had our one-year-old stay with us in the downstairs basement to keep cool. Can't beat the location -- so quiet, yet close to everything. It would get hot in the evenings since there's no AC, but we were able to create a nice breeze by opening windows and using fans. However, doors would often open/close on their own and wake us up because of draft. Doors are not high quality, so it was hard to keep them closed. Also be aware that if you're planning to use the laundry, they will only provide detergent for 1 load. I wish I had known that, as I was traveling from out of state and would have packed extra clothes or extra detergent. Detergent was much more expensive in the area since it's a tourist attraction. Easy to find in the neighborhood and lots of room for our family of five to spread out. Grown ups got the king bed downstairs and the teens got the upstairs rooms and the little guy took the couch. The night times sky views were incredible from the back porch. Getting to see the Milky Way was certainly a highlight. Plenty of amenities available and super soft beds. Loads of fans in bedroom closets and blankets for cold nights. The kitchen had a good amount of storage containers which we used.We came home one evening from dinner to see 12 deer in the front and back yard! And several little chipmunks running around. The house needs some work and some TLC but still overall okay. Upon arrival when we tried to open the drawer that held the trash can it immediately broke. The kids really enjoyed the ping-pong table on the lower floor. There was also a nice selection of family games. We really appreciated that the TV in the living room sat inside a cabinet when not in use, and only rose up to dominate the room when we wanted to watch it. A feThe house got warm, and since only the back door to the deck has a screen door (the front door has glass instead of screens in the second door), it was hard to cool it down in the afternoon and evening (we tried opening the front doors, but then insects flew in). The spiral staircase is very pretty, but a bit of a challenge to negotiate carrying anything heavy (it worked better to use the front doors on the upper and lower levels and the stairs to the upper front door). Stayed Jul, 2020 Very nice cabin for a small family, easy access, great views We stayed for 4 days in mid-July and enjoyed our stay. The back porch offered amazing views in the morning and evening (even though we had to look at neighboring cabins too). The bedrooms were all well-kept and enjoyable. In the summer heat, you really have to rely on box fans to circulate air, so it was hard to get cool some days. The electronics provided were excellent including strong wi-fi, fast Internet and DirectTV service. Wiggle room on the top floor got a little tight with 3 people, but we never needed to use the game room in the basement. Easy access to RMNP and downtown Estes, but we were disappointed we couldnt use the garage even though the listing said we could. Plenty of critters large and small visited the cabin every day. The home is clean but is worn and in need of some repairs. There is no ping pong table which was disappointing for our family. There are some water leaks, a broken door closer, and gas fireplace. The room sizes are smaller than the pictures indicate. The beds are very comfortable. All that said, we enjoyed our stay and found the home comfortable for a family of 6 adults. Beautiful View, great access to the Town We flew in From GA. Temp was COLD! Snowing then warm. Went to a family wedding, did some hiking, visited weekend art festival, went to Golden CO. Did a ghost tour at the Stanley Hotel. We ate at Bird & Jim's, pricey but good. Scratch Deli - HUGE sandwiches! Wine bar beside seasoned - execellent atmosphere - good wines! It was also close to some nice places to eat, a grocery store, and a liquor store. The home was warm, clean, and had great plumbing. (All the essentials in my mind!) The beds were comfortable. When the weather was clear, we had beautiful views of the mountains and the night sky. The only thing that I may have missed when I booked it was the spiral staircase that went from the main floor to the biggest bedroom.
