Park City is the perfect mountain escape to get away from it all and enjoy the simple beauties of nature, even in the cold winter months. If you’re looking for your next adventure, a trip to this charming community should be at the top of your list – plus we’ve done all the planning for you! Our team has put together a full 5-day itinerary of epic mountain activities and recommendations for tasty local bites. This means the only thing left for you to do is book a place to stay – our private vacation rentals are a great place to start! Read on to get inspired for your Park City adventure. Day 1: Stroll Historic Main Street After hours of travel, it’s best to start your vacation at a slower pace, so the first day is all about taking things easy. We suggest heading straight to Park City’s historic Main Street to fully immerse yourself in the charm of this mountain town. The buildings on this street provide a window into the past, as many were built more than a century ago. Grab a coffee at one of the local shops and browse your way through the street’s many boutiques and art galleries. You can also make a stop at the Park City Museum to learn more about the town’s past or pop into one of the historic saloons for a drink. After easing into vacation mode with a fun day on Main Street, it’s time to make your way to your rental home where you can rest up for all of your other vacation activities in the coming days. We suggest picking up groceries to make a tasty home-cooked meal (all our rental homes have a fully-equipped kitchen) or grab a takeout order from one of the many restaurants on Main Street. There is also the easiest option of ordering delivery, so the food arrives right at your door – you can’t go wrong with any of the area’s top pizzerias, like Davanzas or Red Banjo Pizza. Day 2: Hit the Slopes If you’re like most visitors to the area, you’re likely visiting Park City for its famous ski resorts. There are numerous nearby, so you’ll have no shortage of slopes to choose from during your stay. Take your pick from any of the following resorts to have a fun day on the powder: Park City Mountain Resort: A popular resort with plenty of beginner-friendly terrain and a dedicated learning area. Deer Valley Resort: This ski-only resort has over 2,000 acres of skiable terrain, including well-groomed runs for beginners as well as steep runs and moguls for more adventurous skiers. Alta Ski Area: This ski resort, located in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, is known for its deep powder skiing, receiving an average of 538 inches of snowfall each year. Snowbird Ski Resort: This resort is a popular option due to its exceptional snowfall and huge variety of ski terrain, including trails through the trees. Woodward Adventure Park: This park combines the fun of skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in one convenient location. With opportunities to hit some tricks in the terrain park or soar down Utah’s longest snow tubing lanes, it’s a popular destination for families. Off the Slopes If you aren’t a skier, the resorts still offer plenty of other activities for visitors to enjoy. Park City Mountain Resort allows non-skiers to ride the gondola to mid-mountain, where you can take in the beautiful snow-covered mountain scenery and have lunch at the Red Pine Lodge. Many of the resorts also offer full spa services, so if hitting the slopes isn’t your thing, you can spend the day getting pampered. End the Day Experiencing the Après Ski Lifestyle After a day of fun on the mountain, it only makes sense to experience all the après ski fun. There are numerous great spots in the Park City area where you can gather to grab a drink and recap the day (whether you spent it shredding the slopes or relaxing at the lodge). For the most lively experience, we suggest hitting up one of the local après ski spots with live music, like the Corner Store or the Umbrella Bar. Day 3: Visit the Utah Olympic Park On day 3, we have the opportunity to get even more adventurous, as we’re heading to the Utah Olympic Park. This park welcomed thousands of athletes and spectators during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. The venue offers guided tours that allow you to fully explore all its elements– from the impressive Nordic ski jumps to the epic sliding tracks. And speaking of sliding tracks, if you’re feeling especially adventurous, you can book a bobsled ride with a professional pilot. You’ll experience a thrilling ride down the same track from the Olympic Games, giving you a true look at what it means to be an Olympian. Day 4: Try Something New with Dogsledding or Snowmobiling More mountain adventures await on the fourth day of your trip, where you can choose from two exciting excursions. Your first option is to get out in the frosted landscape behind a dog sled team. Spend an hour at the back of a dogsled taking in the stunning mountain peaks – it’s a great way to see areas that may be hard to access on foot. Your second option is to book a snowmobiling excursion. During this activity, you’ll be led by a local guide through wide-open meadows where you’ll experience some of the most breathtaking mountain views. You may even get the chance to see local wildlife, including moose, elk, and deer. And don’t worry if you’ve never tried snowmobiling before – the guides will provide safety instructions and driving lessons before you take off. Both of these options are a great way to get out in nature and explore the winter landscape. However, it’s important to note that you should come prepared with appropriate clothing for both of these activities. We suggest bundling up and dressing as if you were going skiing in order to ensure a comfortable day. Day 5: End Your Trip with a Relaxing Final Day After a few days of adventure, we suggest leaving your last day to do some more low-key (but still fun) activities. Consider starting the day with a coffee and pastry from one of the local shops, like Lucky Ones Coffee or Pink Elephant. If you’re looking for a heartier start to the morning, you can also visit one of the Main Street eateries, like the Bridge Café, where you can get a full breakfast. Try Something New with a Glassblowing Class Next up, we’re onto a fun and interactive activity – a glassblowing class at Red Flower Studios. This shop offers a range of class options available based on your group size. During the class, each person will get the chance to explore their creativity by making their own glass item, while also learning about glassblowing techniques. Taste Award-Winning Spirits at High West Distillery If the idea of glassblowing doesn’t sound like an activity that’s up your alley, another option for your last day is to visit High West Distillery. You can book a full tour of the distillery’s facilities where expert whiskey ambassadors will enlighten you on their unique distilling and blending process. Following the tour, you’ll get the chance to hang out in their tasting room and sample a selection of their whiskey. You’ll also find a general store and restaurant on site at the distillery.
