As a ski-only resort, the trails, terrain, and amenities cater specifically to skiers. This coupled with the 300 inches of powder the resort receives each year provides a truly unmatched experience for those looking to hit the slopes. The resort’s current 2,026 acres of alpine terrain offers 103 ski runs, 6 bowls, and 21 chair lifts. The existing terrain at Deer Valley will be expanded in the upcoming 2024/25 season as part of the Expanded Excellence Initiative. This year’s additions are just the start of a much larger project that will continue until the 2025/26 season. While this expansion will eventually double the skiable terrain at the resort, the developments for the current season will be on a smaller scale. However, you can still expect to see some big improvements this year. What Will the Expansion for the 2024/25 Season Include? Get ready for new runs and more fun! As the Expanded Excellence Initiative gets under way this season, skiers can expect more runs, more lifts, and even more parking to make for a better experience on the mountain. Here’s what Deer Valley Resort will be adding with the 2024/25 expansion: Three New Chairlifts: The expansion this season will unveil 3 new chairlifts, including a 6-pack bubble chairlift, called the Keetley Express. This will be the resort’s first 6-person lift with a bubble and will connect the still-developing Deer Valley East Village to the existing terrain on Bald Mountain. Two additional lifts will also open that will service new beginner trails. 20 Fresh Ski Runs: The 2024 expansion will allow skiers to unlock 300 acres of new skiable terrain and explore 20 fresh runs. The new terrain will be integrated with the resort’s current ski runs and have direct access to the Sultan Express chairlift. 500 Day-Skier Parking Spots: You can expect more parking available for day use with this new addition to the resort. 500 additional parking spots will be added at the Deer Valley East Village. There will be a complimentary shuttle bringing people from the new spaces directly to the East Village. Though the East Village is still in development, it will offer limited amenities in the 2024/25 season, including ski rentals and storage. Access to the Resort via a New Entrance: The new parking area will be accessible via a new entrance on U.S. Route 40. This will help alleviate some of the traffic entering the main entrance, which will reduce congestion throughout Park City. Best Ski Runs at Deer Valley Resort Even with plenty of new terrain to ski this season, there are also over 2,000 acres of existing terrain and trails to enjoy on your ski trip to Deer Valley. Whether you’re learning for the very first time, still consider yourself a novice, or have been shredding the slopes for years, the resort has plenty of options for all skill levels. Be sure to check out our trail recommendations below when you visit. Beginner Terrain at Deer Valley If you’re brand new to skiing or still learning, the Snow Park Lodge area is a great option where you can begin building skills and gain confidence on your skis. If you have little ones, this space has a kids area and numerous magic carpets, giving everyone easy access to the slopes. Use this area’s progressive learning paths to continue building on your skills before heading off to other beginner friendly green runs. You’ll be happy to learn that all the resort’s green runs are slow zones, so you won’t have to worry about other, more advanced skiers zooming by you as long as you stick to the greens. We recommend these green options once you feel like you have your ski legs underneath you: Success: This is a long, easy cruiser run that is off the Silver Lake Express lift . Bandana: This run is accessed off the Ruby Express lift. Much like Success, the Bandana run is a long, gentle cruise that is not too steep. Intermediate Runs to Try at Deer Valley If you’ve been skiing for a while and feel a bit more confident about tackling more challenging terrain, you might want to look for intermediate runs at Deer Valley. The blue runs at the resort are often a great way to deepen your skills and find new confidence on varying terrains. We suggest you try out these runs: Fairview: Located off the Mountaineer Express lift, this is a shorter intermediate run that has a consistent pitch and direction. Stein’s Way: For a bit more of a challenge, we recommend the Stein’s Way run. This well-groomed run starts as a double blue but has a steeper section with a black rating. It’s a great way to advance your skills. Explore Heart-Pumping Expert Terrain at Deer Valley Ski enthusiasts and thrill seekers on the slopes will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy adrenaline pumping terrain at the resort as well. If you’re an advanced skier ready to conquer the ultimate challenge, we suggest looking at the resort’s terrain that has a black rating. Some of the most popular include: Empire Bowl: This expert-level run offers double black bowl skiing for those looking to test their limits. It’s located off the Empire Express chair lift. Daly Chutes: Considered the most challenging terrain at Deer Valley, Daly Chutes is a series of 10 chutes off Empire Peak. These runs are steep and difficult to navigate with numerous obstacles, so they are recommended only for expert skiers. Golfers will revel in the amount of courses they have to choose from in Park City. There are seven public courses in the areas surrounding the city, which means you can pick one to try or visit them all on your trip. The best part – you can enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery at every course. The crisp fall air makes for an enjoyable time, and you may even find that our mountain location adds some extra distance to your shot.
