TGIFairplay Free Concert Series – June 27, 2025 – Fairplay, CO

In the summer, the town of Fairplay hosts a free, monthly concert that provides fun for the whole family. Come out and enjoy some tunes in this idyllic mountain town. The June date is the first of the season, kicking off the summer and bringing everyone in the community together. This event takes place each month on 5th Street between Main and Front and features a new band each time. Music starts at 6:00 PM! 

Park County Fair – July 11-20, 2025 – Fairplay, CO

Take part in this century-old tradition that takes place each year in Park County. Every July, the fairgrounds in Park County become a bustling scene, as both locals and visitors attend the county fair, complete with carnival rides, a rodeo, delicious fair food, live music, and more. All these events take place on the beautiful Park County Fairgrounds, surrounded by picturesque views of the Rocky Mountains. If you happen to be in town during this event, it’s sure to provide fun for the whole family – kids will especially enjoy getting to see all the animals, as local 4-Hers bring their livestock, horses, and small animals to the fair for competition.

Festival in the Clouds – July 18-20, 2025 – Alma, CO

Sitting at an elevation of 10,361 feet, the tiny mountain town of Alma is the highest incorporated town in North America, making a visit here a truly unique experience. And the best time to visit is during their annual Festival in the Clouds, where you can immerse yourself in local art, music, and community vibes. Though Alma has a population of just over 300, they come together each year to put on this exciting event, and this year you can experience the 27th iteration of this community festival. It’s three days of fun amid the breathtaking landscape of the Rockies, so you don’t want to miss it!

Burro Days – July 25-27, 2025 –  Fairplay, CO

The Burro Days hosted each year in Fairplay may be one of the most unique traditions you can find in Colorado. Since 1949, this event has proven to be an event that draws huge crowds, and the 76th Burro Days Celebration happening this July is sure to provide the same level of entertainment.This event spans the entire weekend, featuring food, kids entertainment, live music and numerous races with various animals (i.e. an obstacle course with goats, llama races with costumes, and kids racing with their dogs.) However, the main event happens on Sunday, with hundreds of racers and their burros ready to make their way to the top of the Mosquito Pass – an elevation gain of over 3,200 feet. It’s a true test of human endurance and patience (those burros can be stubborn.) 

Sheep Mountain Trail Runs – August 2, 2025 – Fairplay, CO

Ultra runners and extreme athletes will love this event that is taking place in Fairplay. The 11th Annual Sheep Mountain Trail Run offers a challenging experience, combining technical trail running with extreme distance running – there are course options for half marathon, 50K, and 50-mile distances. Runners will start at an elevation over 9,000 feet, navigating steep climbs and descents over the course of each trail option. If you’re brave enough to participate, this event is sure to test your limits and provide life-long memories.

A Real Colorado Christmas – December 6, 2025 – Fairplay, CO

If you plan to visit Park County around Christmas time, you’re in for a magical winter wonderland. You can even support local organizations when you attend The Real Colorado Christmas Celebration, an annual tradition that includes a Holiday Bazaar, Chili Cook-Off, and the Festival of Trees.
