SkyRun Arrives in Sedona, AZ

From top-tier consulting to custom race cars, Arizona couple launches entrepreneurial venture in Sedona, focusing on curated vacation rental properties

Sue and Dan Bradley have called Arizona home for more than half a century. Sue built an elite consulting practice, while Dan built a very different business: custom race cars for the discerning auto enthusiast with a heavy foot and a penchant for going fast. Now, the married couple are focusing their efforts and respective expertise on a new project and long-time passion: managing vacation rental properties in and around Sedona. With multiple listings already in their portfolio, the Bradleys are off to the races.

Two Halves Make a Whole

When Sue Bradley left a decorated career in corporate consulting, she did so in the same way she had navigated board rooms across America for years: with a clear plan and a team in hand. Bradley partnered with her husband, Dan, and set out to create something of their own, by leaning on her leadership, analytical skills, and customer service experience.

“After years of building other people’s brands, I wanted to create something of my own,” said Sue. “We have loved living in Arizona and want other people to experience the wonder that is Sedona, so we set out to establish a vacation rental pipeline. We don’t want this region to continue to be ‘the best kept secret in America.’”

“I loved the ability to build a team with a plan and vision of my own,” added Bradley. “But I couldn’t do so without the help and security that comes from being backed by a 20-year company with five-star ratings, a sterling reputation, and diverse resources that will help us bring this vision to life.”

While Sedona has a personal connection for the Bradley family, it has also proven to be an increasingly popular tourist destination in recent years. Sedona has seen a spike of over three million tourists annually, which contributes an estimated 10,000 hospitality-related jobs, as well as nearly one billion dollars in economic impact.

“It’s a popular misconception that the word ‘Sedona’ is either Spanish or has Native American roots,” said Sue. “But the name comes from the wife of one of the 15 original homesteading families who settled this region. They needed a one-word descriptive for the postmaster to direct mail, so after various drafts, they ultimately went with Sedona. I love that story because in so many ways, it embodies the spirit of the Sedona region itself—350 million years of geological history, mixed with a thousand years of Native American culture, and a unique sense of creativity that you’ll only find in this part of the country.”

Sue and Dan ultimately partnered with SkyRun Vacation Rentals and secured the franchise rights for Sedona and the surrounding areas. SkyRun was created in 2004 and now manages over 1,500 vacation rental properties across the country. The Bradleys will draw on their shared corporate and customer-service experience—along with SkyRun’s vast network of resources and best in class capabilities—to develop and manage the Sedona territory.

With a carefully curated portfolio of unique properties, coupled with dynamic pricing, best in class service, and the backing of SkyRun, Sue and Dan Bradley are quickly establishing a foothold in Sedona.

“Sedona is a beautiful part of the country,” said Cord Thomas, President of SkyRun Vacation Rentals. “In recent years, this region has experienced unprecedented growth—both in terms of tourism and the economic impact it’s having on the local economy. As tourism continues to expand in and around Sedona, we look forward to working with second home owners to capitalize on the rising trend of visitors, who are looking for a unique, ‘at home’ feel during their stay,” added Thomas.

“That said, we couldn’t be happier to have Sue and Dan Bradley on board to help develop this region,” said Thomas. “Not only have they called Arizona home for the last 50 years, but they both understand the importance of the customer experience—whether it’s corporate consulting and brand building, or the literal building of custom race cars, they have always put the client’s needs first and that’s our main focus at SkyRun.”
