Spring and Summer in Keystone

Keystone’s ski season has come to an end. It’s easy to miss the wind on your face and the powder’s excitement, but spring in Keystone still offers thrills, fun, and can’t-miss events. Mountain bikers, hikers, and outdoor lovers can watch the wildflower blooms and trade in skis and snowboards for boots and bikes. Check out what’s blooming at the resort and craft the perfect spring stay.

Mountain Biking

Take the adventure downhill at the Keystone Bike Park. The progression-focused terrain caters to families looking for a day on the mountain to experts charging at full speed through technical rock gardens, drops, and high-speed features. Tickets and passes are available, and make sure to check out ride requirements.

Gondola Rides

Tired of doing all the work skiing and snowboarding down the mountain? Spring provides the ideal backdrop to relax and climb the Rockies from the comfort and convenience of the resort’s gondola. The 11,640 feet ascent invites you to take in views of Lake Dillon, the Continental Divide, and  the Ten Mile Range. Make a day of it and pack a lunch, and be sure to check the resort’s website for hours of operation.

Horseback Rides

Calling all Wild West fans! Trail rides, wagon rides, and plenty of horse time are all on the docket when you spend a morning, afternoon, or day exploring the Rockies on horseback. Guides share not only riding knowledge but also the valley’s history, so saddle up for this unique adventure.

Golfing

Spring means taking a swing at the resort’s two golf courses. Blue skies for miles and jagged mountain backdrops on the Keystone River Course challenge your game and reward you with soaring views. The par-35 front nine hugs the Snake River and the par-36 back nine meanders through a lodgepole pine forest. If you want a dose of history with your day on the links, book a tee time at the Keystone Ranch Golf Course. The par 72 course sits on historic ranching land that served as the base for 1900s homesteaders. Be sure to check out some of the outbuildings from the past dotting the course today.

Hiking

The mountains come alive as the warmer temps invite wildflowers to bloom, animals to explore their terrain, and two-legged adventurers to get back to nature. Grab a map and set off on one of Keystone’s alpine trails. Take the Dercum Summit Hiking Trail’s 2.3 mile, 180 feet ascent and let the Rocky Mountain views pay off your hard work.

River Run Village

Mini-golf, trampoline fun, oh, and a chance to uncover hidden treasure away at River Run Village. Pan for gold, bounce the day away, and gather the group for some serious chip-and-putt. Bungee trampolines amp up the thrills then move to the gold panning area–could riches await? Passes are available to bundle the fun.
