The Mensing Loft

The Mensing Loft

Galveston, TX

3 Bedrooms 2 full Baths 10 Guests 1560 sq. ft.
(5.0)

The Mensing Loft sits at the corner of Strand and 22nd St, inside an 1882 cast iron mercantile hall built by German immigrant grocer H.H. Mensing. We kept the soul of the building: floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed brick, and heavy timber floors that once held coffee bound for cowboy towns. Then we added three bedrooms, two baths, and a kitchen you'll actually want to cook in.

You are literally on The Strand. Walk to galleries, speakeasies, coffee roasters, and the harbor. Dinner and drinks are steps away.

This isn't a cookie-cutter condo. It's a Gilded Age mercantile hall with 140 years of stories.

Come make yours.

We stayed at The Mensing Loft in Galveston while attending a family wedding and had a great experience. The place was very clean, exactly as listed, and the check-in/check-out process was simple and smooth. The location was perfect directly on The Strand and the surrounding historic area. The only downside was parking—street parking ended up costing about $2.25 per hour. (Not host related but something to consider) Overall, it was a great stay and we would definitely come back.

Overall, it’s a great place to stay in Galveston

Fri, Mar 13 – Sun, Mar 15, 2026 The Mensing Loft • Gilded Age Strand • Walk to Everything

We stayed at The Loft in Galveston while attending a family wedding and had a great overall experience. The place was very clean, comfortable, and exactly as advertised in the listing—no surprises at all, which we really appreciated. The check-in and check-out process was simple and smooth, making the stay easy from start to finish. The location is also a big plus. It’s right on The Strand, which made it convenient to explore the area, grab food, and enjoy the historic district without needing to drive everywhere.

Pros:• Very clean• Easy check-in and check-out• Accurate listing with zero surprises• Great access to The Strand and nearby attractions

Con: (Nothing to do with the rental). The only downside was parking. We ended up paying about 2.25 per hour for around 20 hours for two cars, which added up quickly. If you’re bringing multiple vehicles or staying longer, it’s something to plan for.

Overall, it’s a great place to stay in Galveston, especially if you want to be close to the action downtown. We would definitely consider staying here again.
