Twenty parks means miles of trails–almost 75, to be exact. Couple these with the Rocky Mountains and you have the ideal hiking getaway in Castle Rock. Philip S. Miller Park Trails and Challenge Hill let trekkers explore its 7.4 miles of native-surface trails encompassing four connected loops. Get more steps in on Challenge Hill’s 200 timber steps climbing to a daunting 178 feet in elevation. Keep it local in Castle Rock or explore the area’s hiking options for outdoor fun.

Biking

Bikers, this is Colorado where mountain biking is a state pastime. Explore the mountains as you sail along the many paths and trails in and around Castle Rock. Favorites include Ridgeline Open Space, Philip S. Miller Park Trails, and Memmen Ridge Open Space. Bring your bike or stop by one of Castle Rock’s bike shops for rentals.

Castle Rock Historical Society and Museum

Imagine travelers of the past moving in and out of Castle Rock. When you visit the Castle Rock Historical Society and Museum housed inside a restored train depot, the museum lets guests step inside and gaze upon the clothing, furnishings, and life of residents from more than 100 years ago. Be sure to see if you’re in town for the monthly Native Americans in Colorado presentation. In the summer let docents guide you through the town on a fee, 45-minute tour and learn the hidden history of the town. Spooky season sees brave souls venture out on the cemetery tour that tells the story of Castle Rock’s departed residents. 

Shopping

Bargain hunters, The Outlets at Castle Rock will have you filling your bags with deals galore. National retailers offer discounted goods, stretching your dollar and satisfying your shopping fix. Since this is Colorado’s largest open-air outlet complex, you can stock up. Keep it local at the Castle Rock Farmers Market. Dining and Nightlife

Castle Rock might not be as big as nearby Denver, but the town boasts more than 100 eateries to tempt locals and visitors, and these aren’t cookie-cutter experiences! Dine in a rehabbed stone church or nosh at a Western saloon. Brunch on Greek fare, dip the chips in spicy salsa, or indulge in upscale seafood. Whatever taste you crave, Castle Rock has you covered. Don’t go home just yet–grab the mike for your best karaoke hit or challenge fellow patrons to a game of pool. When the moon is up, this mountain town springs to life. Taste chardonnay or cabernet at one of Castle Rock’s wine bars or fly with a flight of craft beers at a local brewery. Lowkey or high energy, discover your Castle Rock spot.

Miller Activity Complex (MAC)

Fitness fanatics, families with kids looking to burn off steam, and baseballers looking for batting practice flock to the MAC for serious fun. This sprawling complex excites visitors with its pools, batting cages, trampoline park, miles of trails, and adventure playground. The flagship of the MAC’s fleet? The Epic Sky Trek! Find more than 100 elements to test your agility and your comfort with heights–this maze sits 50 feet off of the ground. Ropes, cargo nets, wobbly bridges, and more mean fitness has never been more thrilling.  

Winter Fun

Of course skiing reigns supreme in the Colorado winter, but Castle Rock’s has other options for frosty fun. For the bold adventurers, climb icy heights at Cheesman Canyon. Maybe you keep it on the ground and spend the day cross-country skiing at Echo Mountain Park or Alderfer/Three Sisters Park. Still too high up? Sledders delight whooshing down Festival Park and Philip S. Miller Park’s hills. 

Eldora Mountain

Although it’s smaller than some other popular resorts, locals refer to Eldora as a “hidden gem.” It offers a wide variety of trails for beginners, intermediate skiers, and advanced skiers and snowboarders. While you’re there, keep an eye out for future superstars, as Eldora’s Jr. Race Program has been known to churn out more than a few champions. Eldora also offers a host of other activities, such as alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding trails, snowshoeing, and tubing. 

Echo Mountain Ski Resort

Beginners and intermediate skiers will find lots to love at Echo Mountain. While there’s no village, this location offers affordable ski passes, night skiing, tubing, and a variety of solid runs that cater to newbies and freestylers, alike.

Winter Park Resort

Winter Park was originally constructed by the City of Denver to serve as a–you guessed it–winter park for residents. This family-friendly resort has two mountains that are home to plenty of beginner and intermediate trails. Mary Jane Mountain also offers open alpine bowls, tree skiing, and world-class moguls. The resort and village also offer many dining and shopping options.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

If you’re looking for late-season skiing, “A-Basin” has you covered. While most of the area closes up shop in April, Arapahoe Basin often extends into June or early July. With nearly half of the trails rated advanced and a quarter rated expert, it’s easy to see why A-Basin is a favorite amongst the serious skiers and snowboarders. Check out Pallavicini if you dare. It’s one of the longest and steepest runs in Colorado.

Granby Ranch

Once you see Granby Ranch’s pristine slopes, diverse terrain, and stunning scenery, you might be surprised to find out that Granby Ranch is actually one of the most affordable skiing and snowboarding locations in Colorado. Its 42 runs cater to all skill levels, making it the perfect destination for winter adventure seekers. The Ski and Ride School offers a wide variety of lesson options, including private and group instruction.

But if you DO need something, our staff are here to help daily (and on call 24/7 for emergencies).  We communicate with you the way YOU want to communicate.  That can be using our webchat or simply giving us a call. We’ll also be sending you a few emails before and during your stay wth important information. You can also text us via our industry exclusive 2-way text messaging system.

Check-In Instructions

Check-in is 4:00pm MT and check-out is 10:00am MT.  A check-in instructions email will be distributed to guests 7 days prior to arrival date containing directions and access information for the property. In most cases guests will access a property via a lockbox or smart lock using the given access code. Early check-ins can only be confirmed on the day of arrival.

Guests must depart the property by the check-out time unless a late checkout has been coordinated and confirmed with the SkyRun office. Late check-outs must be coordinated directly with the SkyRun office no later than 9am on the day of departure; please note that if we have an incoming guest we will not be able to accommodate a late checkout.  We ask that guests remove major trash from the unit, return the furniture to it’s original location, and load and run the dishwasher.

Parking
Parking may be limited. The check-in instructions email will contain information regarding parking at your property. Any parking fines assessed to your vehicles during your stay will be billed to you if they are billed to us. Parking fines can be significant.

All stays include a small accidental damage waiver. Optional travel protection is available.

SkyRun provides photos, virtual tours, maps, amenity details and reviews about the property you will be renting. Our staff has first-hand knowledge of each property, so don't hesitate to call us if you have any questions.

Our rentals come fully furnished including TVs, high-speed internet, linens and towels, a microwave, and full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen essentials. We sweat the details and provide supplies like shampoo, conditioner, tissues, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, soaps, trash bags, etc.  We provide everything you expect from a fine hotel, and then some. Some properties may have access to a private or community hot tub and swimming pool, fitness center, tennis court, or other amenities. Refer to individual listings to see more amenity information, and please contact us directly if you still have questions.

When you book direct with SkyRun you avoid paying service fees that traditional listing sites like Airbnb and Vrbo charge. Our prices are also competitive with rent-from-owner rates, but we offer professional service, optional travel insurance, and immediate on-site assistance should the need arise.  In addition, we offer exclusive discounts from local businesses, available only to SkyRun guests.  SkyRun can help you plan and save on your entire vacation experience, not only the rental itself.  We also offer a fantastic value on lodging booked within 30 - 60 days of arrival with our dynamically adjustd rates.

Travel insurance is an optional addition to your total rental charges. It is offered on our reservation form at the time of booking. It is also usually offered at the time of booking when you booked with a 3rd party booking site. You can also add travel insurance onto your reservation within 48 hours of booking with SkyRun. The cost of travel insurance varies and is usually between 7% - 9.5% of your total reservation cost depending on the coverage type.  If you do not have travel insurance, you can not cancel your reservation for any reason.  If you have travel insurance and need to cancel or make a claim refer to your specific policy. You can rent any of our properties by booking directly on this website using a credit card or you can call to book a reservation if you would like to speak with a vacation planner. When you book, 1/3 of your total reservation cost or a minimum of $300 is charged as a non-refundable deposit to secure your rental. 30 days before your arrival, the remaining amount is due and becomes non-refundable if you need to cancel for any reason (see travel insurance above for exceptions).  At this time, the credit card we have on file will be automatically charged for the balance.

For most properties, SkyRun utilizes a convenient keypad lock system which allows you to enter your vacation rental using a personalized access code, as opposed to having to pick up a key and worrying about keeping track of it during your stay. This also saves you the trouble of coming to a check-in center beforehand. Your welcome packet will be in your rental upon arrival, and our staff is always only a phone call away if any questions arise.

No smoking and no pets (unless specifically designated as a pet-friendly property) are allowed in the rentals.  House parties and exceeding the maximum occupancy at any time are prohibited. As in your own home, renters are of course subject to citations for noise violations, etc, handed down by public officials. Remember you are staying as a guest in someone's home, where much investment has been made to make your stay enjoyable; please treat all private property with the respect it deserves.

Denver Museum of Nature & Science

This hands-on museum features exhibits on dinosaurs, outer space, health, and wildlife from across the world. The Discovery Zone is perfect for younger kids, while the planetarium and IMAX theater provide awe-inspiring learning for older children.

Children’s Museum of Denver

This museum is built just for kids, with indoor and outdoor exhibits designed for interactive play. Children can climb a 3-story “Altitude” structure, splash in the water lab, or explore a pretend fire station.

Downtown Aquarium

Home to thousands of marine creatures (including multiple sharks in a 400,000 gallon exhibit) the Downtown Aquarium also features a tiger exhibit, interactive stingray touch pool, and themed dining experience.

Butterfly Pavilion

Located just outside Denver, this interactive insect zoo is home to hundreds of free-flying butterflies, tarantulas, and other small creatures.

Denver sits at 5,280 feet above sea level (1 mile). If you're coming from a lower elevation you may notice yourself getting our of breath quicker. To avoid altitude sickness, be sure to stay hydrated (consider carrying a water bottle with you wherever you go), give yourself a day or two to adjust before you take on any strenuous hikes or activities, and limit alcohol consumption. Be sure to pack or pick up some sunscreen as well, the clear Denver sky's and higher elevation can expose you to more sun than you might expect.

Many of our Denver and Lakewood properties are just 10–20 minutes from Red Rocks, making them perfect for concert trips and weekend getaways. Guests love the easy access, simple parking options, and ability to unwind in a comfortable home after the show.

Neighborhoods like LoDo, Highland/LoHi, RiNo, and Capitol Hill offer quick access to concerts, nightlife, restaurants, and sporting venues. These areas are ideal for guests attending events at Ball Arena, Coors Field, or the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

World-class ski resorts like Loveland, Winter Park, Keystone, and Breckenridge are typically 1–2 hours from our Denver vacation rentals. Many guests stay with us for ski trips because they enjoy Denver’s restaurants, nightlife, and lower lodging prices while still being close to the slopes.
