Button Up Farm

Chelsea, VT

4 Bedrooms 3.5 Bathrooms 8 Guests

Discover the charm of Button Up Farm, a captivating 95-acre retreat offering expansive views of the First Branch of the White River valley, rolling hills, and distant valleys stretching towards Canada. Immerse yourself in the serene tranquility and complete seclusion of this enchanting haven. The farmhouse, an old farmhouse in rural Vermont, features four bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, including a unique first-floor primary bedroom suite. The chef's kitchen, wide-pine flooring, and captivating views from every window enhance the farmhouse's character.

Picture moments of family joy, whether it's cross-country skiing and sledding in the winter or outdoor games and hiking in the summer. Relax on the covered porch, taking in the awe-inspiring scenery that surrounds you. The property spans acres of pristine land, adorned with split rail fences. An original horse barn, 32 acres of electric-fenced plush pastures with majestic maple trees, and a mature apple orchard contribute to the picturesque landscape. Mixed-woods forest and a seasonal stream add to the natural beauty.

Direct access to the VAST snowmobile trail system eliminates the need for trailering. Please note that the pond is not accessible for swimming or guest use. Keep in mind that our property is situated on a rustic, rural road, posing challenges for vehicles without sufficient clearance. A high-clearance SUV is necessary to access the property, and snow tires are required from November through June. Your comfort and ease of travel are our top priorities, ensuring a delightful stay in every season.

As an old farmhouse in rural Vermont,  located in a picturesque country setting in Vermont. Despite our best efforts to mitigate bugs and mice, being in a natural environment means encounters with these critters are possible. While we take measures to address this, we cannot guarantee that you won't have an occasional visitor during your stay.

Our property is an older home that comes with its own unique character and charm. The home may have some dated features and minor quirks, which we believe add to its distinctiveness. We appreciate your understanding that, while we strive to maintain the property to the best of our ability, it may not have the modern conveniences of a newly built home.

Lovely, secluded property. Enjoyed our stay there, very family friendly. You will need a high clearance car/SUV to access. Would love to return if I find myself in Vermont again.

Gorgeous and spacious! Literal & figurative breath of fresh air

This place is absolutely stunning, and I cannot say enough about what a beautiful stay we had. The outdoor space is gorgeous! The views are excellent from every window, and I loved sitting on the porch looking out over the valley and mountains. So many trees, wildflowers, rolling hills, etc. The landscape is calming, there are birds and their songs all around, the space is peaceful, and the sunrise and sunset are breathtaking. I loved that there was a fire pit and places to walk. The full moon rise over the property was magical. Also, the house was a perfect blend of comfortable, clean, and classy! And there was SO much space! We made dinner and breakfast and ate in the great chef's kitchen, worked virtually in different parts of the house (including the pretty back porch, which has outlets, WiFi, and views), and stayed up chatting until late in the night. Had it been cooler, we definitely would have used the fireplace(s). My bed was really comfy -- loved the soft backboard! -- and I woke up with the sunrise! Finally, the location is wonderful -- I loved the local grocery stores, farmer co-ops, coffee shops, and restaurants. It's rural and has that feeling of "getting away from it all", but is not far from larger cities like Montpelier, Stowe, Burlington, Hanover, Lebanon, etc. We also drove to nearby Quichee Gorge for a great and easy hike to a great water spot. I would recommend this place for families, couples, solo time, work retreats, friend-cations, weddings, and more. Thank you!

A perfect escape

This place is truly special. You arrive and immediately breathe differently. Rolling hills, sweeping views down the river valley, and an expansive front porch to take it all in. Every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and the kitchen is large and fully stocked, making it really workable for family gatherings. The property is removed enough to provide a quiet escape, and also a short drive from essentials. Theres an adorable farm store, general store, library and seasonal farmers market right in Chelsea. 25 minutes down the road is South Royalton with excellent barista coffee, a co-op grocery store with everything you would need and much of it locally sourced, worthy burger and butchers cut bistro. Everything about this place feels like a hidden discovery, and a window into “real” Vermont. Absolutely loved our stay.

Stunning position with beautiful views

This is the perfect rural retreat. The house is perfectly positioned on a hill offering breathtaking views of the countryside. It is impossible not to become immediately calm and forget the troubles of the world. A walk around the almost 100 acre property is extremely pleasant and more demanding walks/hikes are easily accessed. The house itself is perfectly maintained and beds are comfortable. There are showers and bathtubs (one of the easiest baths I have ever used for getting in and out of!) - nice if you want a good soak after a long day out!

Serenity Now!

This place is perfect! As you come up to Button Up Farm marked by a simple wooden sign, the sweeping green hills invite you in. The house is not visible from this point and you must drive up to see it, tucked away behind the hill. As you park and step out, you just know this is a special place. The best experience is the view from the porch - a stunning, expansive, uninterrupted green that calmed me down instantly. I think this is a great place to unwind, decompress and get away from the madding crowd. I would recommend it an ideal spot for a meditation retreat. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious, and the kitchen roomy with a lovely view from the dining table. I plan to go there again and again.

Review

We came across this Airbnb listing just a few weeks ago and felt lucky to find it! The surroundings were stunning, communication was clear and responsive, and the home was welcoming and lovely. It's truly a gem. We were just 50 minutes from Burlington, VT., and were able to enjoy the setting and scoot up for our daughter's graduation from UVM. A perfect weekend. Thank you.
